October 15: Do you have any 'must watch' Halloween movies? [livejournal.com profile] aweeghost

Oh definitely.
Must Watch: Halloween; The Halloween Tree; Hocus Pocus; Scream; Trick R' Treat; at least one of the Friday the 13th movies (usually #1 or #4); Children of the Corn; TCM (either the original or the remake); ANOES; It’s the Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown

And odds are I'm gonna watch: The Conjuring; The Exorcist; Poltergeist; and Evil Dead.

I always try to watch at least 31 Halloween/Horror movies so I try to cover a lot of movies, including some new ones each time. Often though, I end up falling asleep about 1/2way through and having to try again,

Halloween, Halloween Tree, and Hocus Pocus are my absolute must-sees though. And Children of the Corn has been part of my Halloween traditions since before I even really liked horror. ANOES, Scream, & The Conjuring are some of my favorite movies period. And I can't even begin to explain how much I adore The Exorcist.

October 16: Who is your favorite cartoon character and why?  [livejournal.com profile] ama_ranth_827

Bruce Wayne/Batman from Batman The Animated Series. He was the first cartoon character I really fell in love with and became invested in his story. He was also my introduction to DC and Batman, which is still one of my favorite things ever.

Happy Birthday, [livejournal.com profile] rogueslayer452!

Hocus Pocus is AMAZING!!!!

I should have guessed the answer was going to be Batman, I think Batman is what I grew up on too, loved watching DC cartoons. Didn't really start watching Marvel cartoons until I got older!

I love it! And I oddly didn't see it till I was in college. :)

I watched Xmen & Spiderman a few years after Batman. We always just got tv through the antenna till about 3 years ago, so I had to watch whatever cartoons were on Fox or PBS. Luckily Fox liked superheros.

Really? That long! How come?

Yes Fox does love it's superheroes! 😉

THE HALLOWEEN TREE ♥ This movie is like, so important to me. I've always planned on having the tree tattooed, but I ended up getting a pumpkin on my back. I may still get the tree, since I seem to have a running theme with trees hah!

We rented it on a whim as kids when the local rental place had TONS of VHS tapes. It quickly cemented itself as a Halloween tradition.

That would make a great tattoo. :)

Yes, I love all of those Halloween movies too :DDD

I agree so much with your Halloween musts and that you mentioned Trick R' Treat I love it and think it's kind of underrated. Great movies to watch this season, I also try to see as many movies as I can. I already watched The Exorcist (will probably watch again), The Conjuring, Evil Dead, It Follows (it has become a favorite), The Babadook, Village of the Damned, ANOES: Dream Warriors, A Nightmare Before Christmas (I tend to watch it around both Halloween and Christmas) and yesterday Hocus Pocus.

Trick R Treat is brilliantly written with how all the stories weave together.

I liked It Follows, though it hasn't become a favorite of mine (at least not yet). The Babadook was really spooky, but that kid was so annoying imo. Dream Warriors is the best sequel, and more fun than the original.

Which Village of the Damned? I watched Carpenter's for the first time this month. It wasn't really scary, but I liked it.

I tend to save Nightmare Before Christmas for December since it works for both and I'm just trying to hit some favorites at Xmas, not cover a full 31.

I so agree, the kid annoyed me also. His screaming got tiring really fast. Dream Warriors is always going to be my favorite, the intro scene stuck with me long after I watched it for the first time.

The 60s one. I find the kids creepier in that one. Though I also enjoy the remake.

Thank you for the birthday wishes! ♥

I love watching horror movies in general, but October is probably the time of year where watching them is essential. I have so many, but the one that is always watched every year no matter what is Hocus Pocus, which has become a Halloween classic for a reason. Trick R Treat has become quite a classic for me rather quickly as well, since I had recently discovered it a couple years ago and instantly loved it. It just has the feel of Halloween right, y'know? Perfection.

I like horror in general too (though not body horror so much). I didn't see Trick or Treat until the last year or so, but you're right: it's so Halloweeny that I have to watch it yearly now.

My favourite cartoon character I've loved since I was a kid. Sailor Mars / Rei Hino from Sailor Moon. I identified with her so long and I still think she's a lot like me or I'm a lot like her. And me and one of my longest friends became actually friends becuse of Sailor Moon :D

Mars and Jupiter were my favorites. :)

I love friendships made through fandom interests. :)

I love the thought that I'm not the only one out there that attempts to watch a horror film a day during the month of October! <3

I started doing it in law school to help me to stay awake for late night studying. lol.

Those Halloween/horror movies are amazing!

Oh, I am SO much more a Batman person than Superman. I became really invested in Batman when I was younger, and haven't stopped since.

Superman has never been one of my favorites, though I do love Clark/Lois and Clark's relationship with Bruce.
