Fangirling backlog
Belated squeeing &/or ranting. There will be some spoilers. You've been warned.
Movies: (No spoilers; just recs.)
1) Black Swan: This movie was fantastic, but really gritty and not for those with a weak stomach. But it was well acted and the visuals were stunning. If you like psychological thrillers, and maybe even if you don't, you need to see this film.
2) The King's Speech: I'm not normally into overcoming the odds movies (ask anyone who knows me really), but with the cast of this one I couldn't resist. And I'm glad I didn't. While I didn't think this movie was as brilliant as Black Swan, it was still excellent and much more, um, pleasant. This film is good for anyone to see.
TV: (Definitely has spoilers)
1) So, I finally saw the Supernatural finale. Since I'd long since encountered spoilers, the ep didn't catch me off-guard, but I still cried like a bitch. Especially since I figured Cas killed Balthazar after he is essentially possessed by millions of monsters, but no; when Cas killed his brother he was still himself. That was really the most upsetting part of the finale for me.
I also wasn't keen on Dean having Ben & Lisa's memories erased. I was never fond of their storyline, but now they won't know how to defend themselves if the monsters come for them again. Good thinking there, Dean.
Sam was definately the most awesome part of the ep though. He had no second thoughts in remembering hell just so he could help his brother. That's pretty badass.
2) White Collar is back tomorrow!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Books:
1) Read the first Amelia Peabody book. While I wasn't as wild on it as my cousin or my mother, it was very good. It had a fantastic heroine and wonderful OTP. While serious at points, mostly I found the book to be simply fun. (Plus, it was set in Eygpt, and I love Eygpt). I think the only thing that kept me from totally loving this book was that it's a traditional mystery with no actual supernatural involvement and tend to prefer books with either a totally insane psychopath or something supernatural. What can I say? I'm a weirdo. Still, I'd highly rec the book.
2) I also read Pat Conroy's Prince of Tides. I enjoyed it, but I'm really not sure why. I didn't like most of the characters, especially the narrator, but the quality of writing was excellent
